So far so good

Well my scripts automatically add the IP address to the .htaccess file if it works out they are spamming. Blocking a couple of domains in URLS got rid of a lot of crap. Block jo.pl and it will take out a lot of your spam as thats all they seem to host!

All quiet on the Western Front – again

Well the RBLs have trapped a lot of the spammers. Also I’ve put a bit of code in that at the moment is logging the IP of any person accessing the trackback script. The next step is to take that code and wrap it into the trackback script so that posts containing “banned” words get […]

Gone away!!

Well after following the instructions here http://www.gotroot.com/tiki-view_blog_post.php?blogId=2&postId=34 I’ve managed to get it so that spammers on my boards get a 403 message. The only thing I found was that the directives had to go into the apache2 config file rather than the .htaccess file which complained “order not allowed here”. I also adjusted it so […]

Mortgages

If you have done 6 impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways Never, ever, ever try what we have just done. My previous Blog covered the problems with getting my wife’s name on the bank account. Well to that we had to redo the mortgage because the RBS Current […]

Banks

Saturday we went to the bank to put my wife’s name on the account. Can’t be too complicated can it? Can’t take more than a few minutes can it? BZZZTTTTT – WRONG!! The bank say that a passport, marriage certificate and payslips (with the same address on as me) are not acceptable as proof that […]

My server was getting swamped the other day, checking into it I found that it was links from LiveJournal to a pic in my photo albums which someone had used to illustrate a tack poem. Livejournal users had then copied this poem round each other, and republished it – and every view was leeching the […]

Health Service?? Where does the Service come into it?

Saw the doctor the other week about a medical condition and he said he’d contact the hospital. Letter arrived on Friday – I need to phone the hospital to make an appointment. Wife phoned the number before 5pm – no reply. I have been trying almost continually for the past 3 hours to get through […]

Things

Its lunch time – I’m sitting here watching the horses canter round the field and I can see a small group of tourists walking along the top of the Malvern Hills. Its so much quieter here than in the Birmingham Business Park, the scenery is much better too, and there are several good pubs within […]

Why bother….

… having a website and an email form for enquiries/quotes if you are not going to respond? I recently emailed a garage that specialises in gearbox work for a quote to replace the Governor seals and accumulator springs on my Saab 9000 autobox because at 120,000 miles I’m starting to get the odd problem (like […]
